Here at makeup.com, we love us a monochrome makeup look, especially when we can bring together an entire face of makeup using just one or two multipurpose products. Clearly, we’re not alone in this, as makeup lovers keep coming up with new and unique ways to reinvent the classic products we know and love. Take NYX Professional Makeup Lip Lingerie for example: A Redditor just shared a makeup hack for using the reddish-brown shade named Exotic to create natural-looking blush and we are so, so here for this.
“I'm somewhere between NC 30 - 35, with a neutral undertone and was on the hunt for a natural, earthy looking cream blush, but not really being able to gauge anything from pictures online,” explains the Reddit user on Makeup Addiction. “I started comparing blush swatches with the NYX Lip Lingerie Swatches ’cause I own Exotic and that was pretty much the exact color I wanted. And then, I realized why don't I just try some of this on my cheeks?”
To get the look, the Redditor started by prepping skin with a moisturizer and then applied a tiny bit of the Lip Lingerie onto the face and used fingers to blend. “I've been wearing it every day this week, and I feel that I've found my perfect blush for free.”
If you want to recreate the look at home, we recommend working as quickly as possible to blend the product into your skin before it starts to dry down. If it does happen to get a little dry, add a little bit of Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm and then continue to blend it out with a fluffy blush. From there, complete the monochrome makeup look by adding the product to your lips — or maybe just rock the blush as is and get on with your day.
Unsurprisingly, fellow Redditors support this makeup move. “I always just use my NYX lip colors as blush to match my lips. Works brilliantly! Unless it's a weird color, but all the pinks and corals work well,” writes one user. Another Redditor writes, “I love that shade so much on my lips, now I’m definitely going to try it as a blush too! Hopefully it looks as good on my extremely pale face.”
