These oily skin makeup products will help make your matte dreams a reality.

In a world where highlighter is every girl's best friend, glistening, dewy skin has become more popular than ever before. Celebrities and Insta influencers are glowing like disco balls, and shine is being embraced. However, if you have oily skin, it’s not so easy to pull of this look – and all those glistening products might just slide off your face. Fortunately, with the best makeup for oily skin, it’s possible to be matte in all the right places – and glisten in others.

There’s no doubt oily skin means you have to work a lot harder than people with normal skin to get the beauty look that you want – but it’s completely doable. We spoke to New York City dermatologist Joshua Zeichner, MD, about what ingredients to look for – and avoid – when you have oily skin.

“If you have very oily skin or acne breakouts, consider makeup with low concentrations of salicylic acid to prevent clogging of the pores,” he explains. “Your makeup should be oil-free, using ingredients like dimethicone rather than heavy oils like petrolatum. Dimethicone helps absorb skin oil and gives a mattifying effect. Silica is also commonly used to absorb oil and reduce shine.”

And if you’re looking for brightening makeup for oily skin, look for pigments instead of oils. “Light reflecting pigments brighten the skin and minimize shine, as well,” says Dr. Zeichner.

We rounded up eight oil-fighting makeup products that you should incorporate into your daily makeup routine for the matte skin of your dreams. You’ll be amazed by how easily you can take control of your oily skin with the right makeup.
