Say it with us: SPF is key. While that seems like a no-brainer in the warmer summer months, this mantra is a non-negotiable all year round. And while it’s important to layer your regular SPF underneath your face makeup everyday, it also doesn’t hurt to have a little extra coverage in your foundation, too.
It’s important to remember that while foundations with SPF provide an added layer of protection, they should never take the place of your tried and true daily sunscreen. Before we recommend our faves, we’ll address the elephant in the room: flashback. Foundations with SPF tend to have a higher incidence of flashback, but if you stick to sunny photos and avoid direct flash you’ll be just fine. Plus, these formulas are so good, we doubt you’ll get any anyway.
So without further ado, peep our favorite picks, ahead:
A fan-fave, this CC cream isn’t exactly a foundation, but provides enough coverage to blur imperfections and even your skin tone. Its goal is a “your skin, but better” look, which is perfect for warmer months or days you want a more natural look. At $38, it’s pretty affordable, and a little goes a long way.
Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Liquid 24H SPF 15 Foundation With a shade for nearly everyone, this longwear matte foundation is a great choice for everyday and gives skin a flawless finish. It’s made to last for 24 hours without touch ups, so consider this your go-to for special events and days you need your makeup to stay put.
Perfect for combo skin babes, the Naked Skin One and Done Foundation gives skin a natural finish while adding more SPF to your daily routine. This is a great starter foundation and is so lightweight, it’s easy to forget you’re wearing it at all.
Formulated with coconut, avocado and grapeseed oil, this skin tint offers a dewy finish and SPF 30. The rollerball packaging is easy to use (perfect for travel!) and the sheer coverage is great for summer.
This hydrating, oil-free foundation is perfect for babes who want lightweight coverage and a little sun protection, too. It feels like virtually nothing on the skin and leaves skin with a noticeable glow. We recommend this for the makeup junkie who hates foundation but wants all the benefits of face makeup.
