The change of seasons can wreak havoc on the complexion, but there’s no way we’re facing spring with lackluster skin. It’s time to shed dull winter skin, and show off the fresh face that’s been hiding underneath. Our skincare guru, Assistant Clinical Professor Yale Department of Dermatology Mona Gohara, filled us in on the three expert tips we need for refreshed skin.
#1: Make Moisturizer a Focus. Because dry skin accentuates fine lines and wrinkles, moisturizer is a skin-reviving necessity. Use something soothing like CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion (a great product for acne- and eczema-prone skin) or Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer SPF 30. Beauty Bonus: Store your moisturizers and eye creams in the fridge for a nice pick me up in the morning.#2: Try Something Tinted. Warmer weather undoubtedly means you’ll be spending more time outside. Choose a tinted SPF that will cover imperfections while protecting you from the sun. Mona’s favorite: La Roche Posay Anthelios 50 Mineral Tinted Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid. “It gives a sun-kissed glow, and is ideal for layering under makeup.”
#3 Sleep on Your Back. Mona recommends not sleeping on your stomach and side because it can accentuate puffy eyes that come from spring allergies. We recommend piling up the pillows, and sleeping like a princess.
