We're just one week out from the first day of fall, and it's got us thinking about a few of our favorite things (in no particular order):
- Pumpkin Spiced Lattes
- Tall boots and scarves
- The vampy lip
Vamp lipstick is the perfect way to add a bit of polish to your everyday makeup look. And the beauty of the vampy lip is that it looks great on every skin tone—it's really just a matter of finding the right shade. Here we tell you which vamp lipstick shades work best with fair, medium, olive and dark skin tones.
Fair & Light Skin Tones
If you have fair skin with cool undertones, choose berry shades that run blue. And remember to warm up your cheeks with a bit blush to avoid looking washed out! If you have fair skin with warm or neutral undertones, opt for deep plum and rich violet shades.

Medium Skin Tones
Medium skin tones have a wide range of lipstick options, due to neutral undertones. From wine red to brick red, oxblood and burgundy—you can’t go wrong! If you do sway towards the cooler side, opt for a deeper plum, while maroon shades complement warmer skin tones.
Olive Skin Tones
Just about every vamp lipstick shade complements golden olive skin tones, but brown and mauve are your best bet. High drama looks good on you, so don’t shy away from it!
Dark Skin Tones
Deep berries, plums and purples are the way to go, and with your rich complexion, you can pull off the boldest shades. If your skin tone is on the warmer end of the spectrum, choose a shade with brown undertones. If your skin runs on the cooler end, opt for vamp shades with blue undertones.
