Here’s How to Get Camila Cabello’s Rapunzel Hair From Last Night’s Awards

Award season is basically like show-and-tell for grown-up beauty-holics, celebrities and singers alike. Last night was no exception, as everyone brought their A-game to the big red carpet. While mini handbags, lime green frocks and cowboy suits certainly had a moment, our beauty award of the night goes to none other than Camila Cabello’s extra-long, ethereal braid. Like, whoa. The L’Oréal Paris Ambassadress and Havana Collection co-designer tapped Dimitris Giannetos of L’Oréal Hair for his glam expertise. Giannetos used exclusively L’Oréal Paris products to achieve a Rapunzel-esque hairstyle that stole the show. Ahead, find a step-by-step tutorial on how to get the look.

STEP 1: Wash Your Hair

For fresh and easy-to-style hair, Cabello’s ultra-long tresses were washed with the new L’Oreal Paris Elvive Dream Lengths Restoring Shampoo and Conditioner. Formulated with castor oil, vitamin B3 and vitamin B5, this hair washing duo ensured that her hair was shiny, smooth and tangle-free. The nutrient-rich system also helps to seal split ends, protect hair from heat (see next step) and keep long locks strong.

STEP 2: Create Texture

To keep Cabello’s hair looking sleek yet voluminous, Gianettos towel-dried her hair and then sprayed a bit of the L’Oréal Paris Boost It High Lift Creation Spray. (Pro tip: hold the bottle around 12 inches away from hair and then spritz directly into roots.) This helped create texture, volume and fullness. Once the product was worked in, Gianettos grabbed a diffuser to reduce frizz and maintain her iconic, natural wave pattern. For an extra burst of shine, he used a few drops of the L’Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil Treatment

STEP 3: Braid Away

Now that prep is out of the way, it’s time to turn our attention to the braided masterpiece. Gianettos separated Cabello’s hair into sections and started French braiding along the side of her head. He kept her bangs and a few front, face-framing pieces out in the front to maintain a whimsical vibe. He then collected all of the individual braids at the nape of her neck and combined them into one, long side-swept braid. To achieve the effortless and easy-going vibe we saw on the red carpet, Gianttos tousled a few sections of the braid before securing it. The final touch? The L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Strong Hold to make sure her style stayed in place all night long.
