I Took Ulta Beauty’s Hair Quiz and the Results Saved My Frizzy Hair

I will admit because I am a makeup and skin-care enthusiast (see also: fanatic, fiend, completely obsessed), my poor hair doesn’t always get the love it deserves. In full transparency, I don’t have an everyday hair-care routine, I don’t own a silk pillowcase (although, I high-key want one), and I most definitely don’t do my hair every morning. Normally, I just air dry and maybe use a little hair oil, but mostly I just let it do its thing and pray for the best. What can I say? I need to be low-maintenance in some parts of my beauty routine or else I probably wouldn’t make it to work on time. Needless to say, it’s not that I don’t want beautiful silky strands, I just never truly invested the time into curating a specific routine for my thick, frizzy hair. Enter my saving grace and answer to my hair-care prayers, the Ulta Beauty Hair Quiz. This short beauty quiz has made it easier than ever to achieve the hair I’ve always wanted thanks to it’s spot-on recommendations. Keep reading to find out more about my experience.  The hair quiz is a two-question survey that asks you about your hair type and your hair goals. Simple, easy and exactly what I need. I am a wavy hair gal through and through with a serious case of frizz. My flyaways have a mind of their own, and the only time you’ll never see them wreaking havoc is when I’m wearing a headache-inducing ponytail that’s slicked back using the strongest hold hairspray you can find. With that said, your girl needs all the help she can get.  After taking my short and sweet quiz, I was recommended a list of products to cleanse, condition, treat and style my hair. What I love most about this hair quiz is that it refines Ulta’s long list of products and recommends ones that will satisfy your specific hair concerns, while still offering an array of options at different price points. To cleanse, I opted for the Matrix Total Results Mega Sleek Shampoo, which is an anti-frizz, clarifying shampoo that works to clean your hair while managing frizz, thanks to its formula infused with shea butter. I paired the shampoo with the matching conditioner that is also infused with shea butter to help leave hair smooth, shiny and free of frizz. For my treatment, I went with the Redken One United All-in-One Multi-Benefit Treatment Spray, which can be used alone, as a leave-in, rinse-out or in tandem with a styling product, and boasts 25 different benefits including anti-frizz. Last but not least, as my styling product, I chose the Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer. If you haven’t noticed the trend, I like my hair products to serve multiple purposes so that they can help me save time while still getting the job done.

The Verdict:  After a few weeks of using my new hair products, the changes to my frizzy hair were incredible. I honestly can’t believe how much softer, smoother, and most importantly, less frizzy my hair has been since introducing these products to my everyday routine. The best part about it? It doesn’t feel like a major lift compared to my old daily beauty regimen. It was a simple swap of shampoo and conditioners, and now instead of completely neglecting my hair in the morning, I use my two easy sprays and let my hair do its thing, like usual. My favorite products are a tie between the Redken One United All-In-One Spray and the Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer. I love how easy they are to use and their ability to do the unthinkable, actually tame my flyaways. While, my flyaways aren’t 100% gone (I’m pretty sure I need a magician at this point or a silk pillowcase *cough cough*) there is one huge lesson learned from this experience and that is that I will never underestimate the power of a personally curated hair-care routine. And for that, I thank you, Ulta.
