Let’s be real here: Self tanning is hard. Even as a beauty editor, I’ve always found that attempting to create that perfect bronzed glow at home leaves much to be desired. And nailing down the right shade is the hardest part. Granted, my mediterranean complexion is typically blessing when it comes to this, but my yellow undertones make it difficult to pinpoint exactly what type of self-tan shade I should go for.

A solution for this that I never would have guessed? Using my hair color as a trick to figure out my best self-tanning shade. Global Creative Consultant of Fake Bake, James Harnkett, chatted with our babes at Coveteur about how exactly to achieve this, whether you have light hair, dark hair or even rainbow-colored tresses. Check out the article here, and follow his golden rules of self-tanning and hair compatibility to make your faux tan application a lot more seamless.
