When the clock strikes 12 a.m. on New Year’s Eve in Times Square, confetti flutters down on the city’s excited (and equally chilly) inhabitants as they steal their first kiss of the year and take in the magic of the night. As city-dwellers come dressed in their warmest clothing, decked out in hats, inflatable balloons, scarves, sunglasses and other celebratory items, many forget about one of the most creative, mesmerizing and dare we say Instagrammable ways to portray their New Year excitement: makeup. And we’re not just talking your day-to-day cat eye liner look or even your fanciest metallic eye. Instead, we, and a few other Instagrammers that we’ve been prowling, are here to convince you that you should match your makeup look to that confetti that wondrously rains down on you amid the New Year’s Eve chaos. Don’t believe us? See some of our fave looks, ahead.

This mesmerizing look is brought to you by Stella Sironen. The makeup artist uses multi-colored, sphere-shaped confetti under her eyes paired with a subtle makeup look to balance the look. Her Instagram bio reads, “Glitter, fine lines and anything in the colours of a rainbow🍭💄.” We feel ya, Stella.

If you’re looking to recreate Alyssa’s glam look, she used lunautics fairy dust, paired with bold lashes and bold, shimmery eyeshadow shades. Her subtle pop of glitter confetti under her eyes completes the look and quite honestly, we can’t look away.
Obsessed with pastels? We think makeup artist Anne Wenzel is, too. She created the look using Kett Cosmetics Creme Makeup and Set Powder, plus Lime Crime Pocket Candy in Sugar Plum. Anne topped off the look with Casper Glitter from the Glitter Palace.

To get her bright pink eyeshadow look, Ida Ekman used the NYX Professional Makeup Earth palette, plus shadows from Suva Beauty. To complement the shadow and to look bold AF, Ida uses star confetti and pairs the eye look with a bold, purple brow.
