How to Get Beautybekky’s Impressionist Eye Makeup Look
December 06, 2019This has been a year of serious glam. Bedazzled eyebrows and watercolor eyeshadow looks have flooded our feed on the ’gram, and, well, we’ve loved every damn second. To get the best of both trends, we teamed up with Rebekkah Theenaart (@beautybekky) to create a Monet-inspired, whimsical, impressionist eye makeup look with pearl details that you seriously won’t be able to stop staring at. Ahead, find a step-by-step guide to recreate the look at home.
STEP #1: Paint Your Lid
Using a thin, angled brush, Theenaart dips into the NYX Professional Makeup Vivid Brights Creme Color in Endless Skies, a light blue shade. She holds the brush down flat and draws quick, short strokes across her eyelid, without whiting out the entire base.
STEP #2: Create Colorful Dimension
Next, Theenaart creates a watercolor-esque dimension with different shades of the NYX Vivid Brights Creme Color. To achieve a painted-on aesthetic, she draws short, wispy stokes with the brush. Theenaart uses Blueprint, a true blue shade, above her crease; a dusty lilac shadow, called Pillow Talk, from the middle to the outer corner of the eye; Sugar Rush, a lavender hue, in the middle of the lid; and Rebellious Edge, a true purple color, on either side of the lavender. The grand finalé? A concentrated red circle, in the shade Cyberpop. This shade is placed in the center of the lid near the crease.
STEP #3: Clean Up With Concealer
Using the Urban Decay Stay Naked Correcting Concealer, Theenaart swipes some product directly on to her eye contour. Because the formula is blendable, only a small amount is needed. She sheers out the product with a concealer brush.
STEP #4: Apply Mascara and Brow Gel
The YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Mascara in Extreme Blue is super pigmented, making it the perfect addition to this colorful eye makeup look. Theenart swipes the volumizing mascara across her lower and upper lashes. She then sets her eyebrows using the NYX Bare With Me Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Brow Setter.
STEP #5: Glue on Pearls
This dreamy look wouldn’t be complete without some embellishment. She preps for pearl placement by dabbing eye-safe cosmetic glue in four locations: the inner corner of the eye, near the start of the upper brow bone, directly under the eyebrow’s arch and at the outer corner of her eye. Then, using a tweezer for controlled placement, Theenaart places the pearl studs accordingly. Voilá, a gorgeous, impressionist makeup eye that we’ll most definitely be recreating.
