With every season comes different makeup trends that become a part of our signature looks. In summer, it’s all about that dewy glow. Spring, it’s the perfect time to break out all of your pastel lipsticks, while in fall, warm-toned eyeshadow palettes reign supreme. We know winter makeup can often get lumped into a giant “holiday” category consisting of glitter-everything but don’t get confused. There are other winter makeup trends that are equally captivating and just as fun to create as that New Year’s Eve glitter eyeshadow look. Here, we gathered a few of our favorite winter makeup trends to try in 2020.

Winter Makeup Trend #1: The Cool-Toned Smoky Eye
Usually summer is all about keeping things fresh, minimal and dewy. You know, that no-makeup makeup look? Well, winter is the perfect time to add a bit of drama by opting for a cool-toned smoky eyeshadow look. Go for a bold black shadow all over the eyes or a cool-toned charcoal variation using a shade like Meet Me in Paris from the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadows.

Winter Makeup Trend #2: Dark Lipstick
Staying on trend with dark colors during the winter, now is a great time to try all those moody lipstick hues you’ve been eyeing since summer. The NYX Professional Makeup Shout Loud Lipsticks have a variety of dark-hued shades that will match any winter aesthetic. Our favorite is Grind, which is a cool-toned chocolate color.

Winter Makeup Trend #3: Liquid Blush
Cooler temperatures often bring dry, dull-looking skin. To help add a bit of life and much-needed hydration, reach for a liquid blush during your everyday makeup look. When we say we are obsessed with the Maybelline New York Cheek Heat, we mean we are head-over-heels in love with it. The cream-to-gel formula creates such a beautiful and subtle illumination while adding a healthy flush of color to your complexion. It’s also super blendable and comes in six flattering shades.

Winter Makeup Trend #4: Plum Everything
We know plum isn’t most people’s go-to hue when doing their daily makeup, but trust us when we say, it’s such a versatile color that leans on the cooler side of the spectrum, making it perfect for winter. Try going for a full-out monochromatic plum makeup look or adding a dark, plum lippie to your everyday makeup look for a toned-down iteration that’s still very on-trend.
