Essie Hard to Resist Nail Strengthener Treatment Review

I’ve been biting my nails since I was a kid, and even though they’ve always been on the short, stubby side, I’ve never thought to try any nail treatments to help them out. In my mind, only kicking my bad habit entirely would be helpful. Painting my nails a fun color is a temporary fix, but the second that polish starts to chip, I peel it all off and am back to my regular keratin consumption. That’s one of the reasons why I was intrigued by the new Essie Hard to Resist Nail Strengthener Treatment. It’s available in two completely transparent shades, and promises stronger, less brittle nails in as little as three days. Keep scrolling for my full review of the product.

The Formula

I was sent the shade Glow & Shine, a translucent pink that’s meant to add subtle rosiness and shine, courtesy of the brand. There’s also Neutralize & Brighten, a lavender tint that is meant to balance yellow tones and accentuate the whites of your nails. Because both shades are clear, it’s difficult to notice any chips. That means I can spend more time admiring how shiny my nails are, instead of picking at chipped polish and biting them to the quick again. The pink tint added a subtle glow to my nails and gave them a glossy, reflective shine.

My Experience

After painting on two coats of this treatment and wearing it for about two weeks, I’m happy to report that I noticed very minimal chipping. My nails feel somehow thicker too — usually, when I stop biting them for a period, they grow in very weak and flexible, but not this time. In fact, I can actually see the whites on most of my nails, which is a rarity for me. The brand claims the polish uses nail bonding technology for stronger nails that are protected from everyday wear and tear, such as washing your hands or your dishes.

If you’re looking for a new way to care for your nails, whether they’re naturally brittle or you’re a frequent nail-biter like me, I highly recommend giving this treatment a go. As subtle as the tint is, it’s more exciting to apply than a clear polish, which creates extra incentive to apply it. It’s also perfect for those who have a job that doesn’t allow for colorful nail polish.
