Win Any Halloween Costume Contest With This Melting Skull Makeup Look

Boo! In honor of spooky season quickly approaching, we decided to start gathering potential Halloween makeup ideas to get in the spirit. Don’t spend another year wearing your kitty ears and cat makeup because you had no idea what to be on the big day. It happens to the best of us, but that’s why we’re planning ahead of time. This year, try this melting skull makeup look created by Instagram and YouTube star, Desi Perkins.  Perkins created a full-face Halloween idea that is a captivating combination of glam meets gore. The look features Perkins with skull makeup on one side of her face and full beat on the other. Since its debut, it's proven to be a recurring fan-favorite in the beauty community because of the trippy melting effect that makes it look like her real skin is melting off, unveiling a skeletal figure behind. Keep reading to find out how she created the famous melting skull.   Let’s dive into the glam side of her face, which is a cool-toned smoky eye with a bold winged liner. We recommend having the Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette on hand because it includes a wide variety of cool-toned neutral shades that will allow you to play and experiment with your smoky eye. To begin, Perkins primes her eyelids to prepare for the smokey eyeshadows. We love the Urban Decay Primer Potion for this step because it has anti-aging benefits and ensures your shadow will stay in place without creasing. After the eyelids are prepped and primed, Perkins takes a cream-colored shadow to set her eyes and act as an all-over lid color. Next, taking a warm orangey-brown color, she applies the shadow to her crease as a transition shade. After blending it all out, Perkins moves on to her cat-eye liner. For a dramatic and bold eyeliner, try using the Huda Beauty Life Liner Duo Pencil and Liquid Eyeliner for its long-lasting, waterproof, smudge-proof and fade-proof formula. Once the liner is sharper than a knife, she uses a black eyeshadow in the outer part of the crease to add extra depth to the eyes. Be sure to blend it out to give it a smoked-out effect. Perkins finishes the eyes with a pair of falsies and black smoked out eyeliner on her bottom waterline. Then, she begins to outline her face using a white eyeliner to guide where the skin will turn into the skull. After, she applies the Maybelline New York Matte + Poreless Foundation to the glam side of her face and finishes her base makeup with concealer and setting powder.

Perkins creates her skull makeup using the Mehron Makeup Paradise Paint Palette. She uses a mix of gray, black and white tones to give her skull a 3D effect. Now, for the fun part. Perkins uses the Mehron 3D Gel Special FX makeup in Flesh Beige to create the melting skin. She says to concentrate the gel where you want the skin to look like it’s melting. Perkins reassures her followers how easy and customizable the gel is, giving you free rein to create the look how you best see fit. Once the gel dries, you can accessorize your bomb Halloween makeup look with a fun colored wig for a complete finish. We guarantee you’ll have the best look at any Halloween party you go to this year.
