Brazilian Model Gizele Oliveira Shares Her Beauty Secrets

Ever wonder what it takes to walk the most iconic runways in the world? To get a glimpse into what it’s like, we reached out to Brazilian model Gizele Oliveira. Ahead, she tells us about her makeup and skin care routine, the best piece of advice she’s ever received and what beauty means to her.

How did you get into modeling?
Since I was a kid I was crazy about fashion, so that was always a thought I had. I have a godfather that does bridal dresses, and he invited me for a photoshoot and I loved the experience. So since then, I started little by little growing in the business.

What does a typical day look like for you? Is there such thing?
I don’t think there’s been such a thing for a long time already (laughs). I never know how the next day is going to be, who I’ll be working with, what I’m going to do. Because every time I think I’m free and make plans, something comes up last minute and I got to go to work!

What's something a lot of people don't know about you?
Besides that I’m super shy, I think my obsession with animals. Doesn’t matter which one, if I see one I go crazy. I always smile at every dog on the street.

What does your daily makeup and skin care routine look like?
When I’m not working I try to let my skin breathe and not wear makeup. But if I’m going somewhere I always put moisturizer, a little bit of concealer, lip balm and mascara.

What's your favorite makeup trend at the moment?
I love the “no-makeup makeup” trend. The Chanel show AW18 makeup is my favorite!

What do you do for fun?
Depends on the weather. I usually go to the movies. If it's warm I like walking, and as I live close to the Hudson River, it's amazing to walk or bike around there. Now that it's getting super cold again, I love bowling and Dave & Busters!

What's the best piece of advice you've ever gotten?
“Don’t ever stop being yourself, don’t ever change for anyone, don’t forget where you came from and don’t ever stop being humble.”My godfather told me this before I started traveling and I think about it every day.

What are some of your favorite beauty products of all time (makeup, skin & hair)?
I’m all about this face cream I found during my summer vacation in Portugal! It's from this brand called Benamôr and I bought to see if it actually works, because it was called “the miracle face cream.” I was obsessed once I tried. It was like I was wearing light makeup and all I had was the cream!

For makeup, I love the Nars concealer! I think it's the best and it's so hard for me to find something in my skin tone without having to mix different colors. For hair, I’m using this shampoo and conditioner that makes my hair look incredible and super shiny — and it smells amazing! It’s called Love Beauty & Planet in Murumuru Butter & Rose.

What's the best part about being a Victoria's Secret Model?
The best part about it is that all the models that always inspired me somehow, all the models that I love and that were and are the biggest supermodels were there before. I feel like the luckiest girl on earth.
