Self-Isolation Makeup Diaries: How the Dermablend Cover Care Concealer Had Me Covered All Week

Thanks to COVID-19 and social distancing, in-office presentations have turned into I-just-got-out-of-bed Zoom calls, and dinner with friends is now a FaceTime session. A lot has changed in the past few months — including my makeup routine. My once full-glam, everyday face beat rarely happens. Instead, I’ve been relying on just a few key products (cough, cough, concealer) to get me through just about every occasion that pops up on my calendar. Be it work calls, times when my skin freaks out or days when I just need a makeup pick-me-up to feel like myself again, concealer is my new BFF. That’s why when our parent company L’Oréal sent over the Dermablend Cover Care Concealer for me to try, I knew I would get good use out of the product. I didn’t realize just how much help it would provide, though. Keep reading, because I’m sharing how Cover Care Concealer had me (and my dark circles) covered all week long.
Day 1: Wake Up to Made Up
While I certainly haven’t been doing a full face of makeup every day, I try to do my normal glam (and put clothes other than pajamas on) at the beginning of the week. Not only does it put me in a positive mindset, but it also gives me a sense of normalcy in the midst of the world’s craziness. After finishing my skin-care routine, I went ahead and applied my foundation. Then, I grabbed my shiny new Dermablend Cover Care Concealer. The product went on smoothly, and, to be honest, I only needed one coat to feel refreshed and ready to take on the day. It felt creamy, lightweight and hydrating. Plus, it literally made my dark circles disappear — like magic. I even went ahead and applied eyeshadow, blush, bronzer — the works. Let me just say, a little makeup can go a long way in putting you in a productive mindset. I may just have to try it out more often.
Day 2: Couch to Conference Call
My Tuesday morning included five alarm snoozes, enough said. I was feeling extremely tired, had a terrible night’s sleep, and my under-eye bags were really puffy and dark. Unfortunately, my 9am Zoom conference call didn’t care. With just four minutes to spare, I rolled out of bed, quickly washed my face, grabbed my Cover Care Concealer and ran downstairs to my at-home office. I unscrewed the cap of the concealer and used the doe-foot applicator to smudge some full-coverage liquid under my eyes. The applicator is pretty thick, so I only needed one swipe to cover the whole area. I blended in the concealer with a few pats of my fingers and signed onto my meeting. I’m happy to report that no one knew I had rolled out of bed a mere few minutes ago. Hey, it happens right?!
Day 3: Big Night In? BYO Concealer
As much as I miss going out with friends, we’ve made it a point to stay connected through all of this. Be it a virtual game night or group Zoom catch-up, we try to all get together at least once a week. Tonight, we’re celebrating my best friend’s birthday. When the clock struck six, I ran to my vanity to freshen up before singing onto Zoom. I had on a tinted sunscreen for the day but wanted to perk up my appearance just a tad before seeing everyone. I applied the concealer under my eyes and on the bridge of my nose, chin and forehead to cover any puffiness and brighten my overall complexion. I was pleasantly surprised by how even my skin looked after just a few swipes of this concealer. It covered up my unwanted discoloration but still felt breathable on my skin and gave a nice, soft matte finish. While I didn’t have on a ton of makeup, I still felt pulled together and confident in my complexion.
Day 4: Stuck Inside and Breaking Out
My skin has been acting out something fierce these past few weeks. I’ve been diagnosed with rosacea and have been getting flare-ups every time I step outside. My normally smooth skin has been looking super bumpy, red and blotchy. It was really bothering me today and I wanted to cover up a bit of the redness. Given that the Dermablend Cover Care Concealer is allergy tested, non-comedogenic, vegan and approved for use on sensitive skin (hi, yes, me), I knew it was the perfect product to get the job done. I applied a bit to my forehead, nose and chin, then blended in the product with a damp beauty sponge. It stayed on all day, completely removed visible redness and kept my skin hydrated. It was just the pick-me-up my skin needed. This concealer truly had me and my complexion covered all week long and for every single occasion. It’s definitely one of my new favorite go-to products.
