With every passing Fashion Week season comes a whole new set of makeup trends for editors and bloggers alike to try and glorify – and the spring 2018 shows had us reeling out of the standard makeup box. Below, we’ve rounded up four beauty trends that took over the runways. Whether you choose to e know they will inspire you to step away from your everyday makeup kit.

IT'S A WING THING

Monse + Jason Wu Makeup Spring 2018

Wings always find themselves onto the NYFW runways, and this season was no different with this new take on the classic cat eye. Maybelline artist Yadim gave Jason Wu’s muses a thick, rounded black wing to accentuate the eyes, while artist Grace Lee opted for a striking double wing in her Monse interpretation. It’s still a cat-eye loving beauty world; we’re just living in it.

LASH PARADISE

Cushnie et Ochs  + Christian Siriano Makeup Spring 2018

The spring/summer runway also gave a major nod to our wildest vintage beauty dreams with spidery “Twiggy” lashes – aka, when clumpy mascara looks impossibly chic. The Maybelline Colossal Big Shot Mascara made an appearance on the Cushnie runway, while Siriano’s girls had a softer mascara look by e.l.f. Cosmetics. To ensure the lashes were the center of attention in both shows, they were complemented with neutral eye makeup and lips.

TECHNICOLOR TONES

Self Portrait +  GCDS Makeup Spring 2018

What would a spring/summer runway be without some technicolor pops? We saw some ultra-rainbow lids at GCDS using the Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadows, (the blue one above is in Teal the Deal) as well as some sunset ombre attitude from Self Portrait, using the Maybelline Master Fairy Highlight.   

MOODY + GLOW

Jonathan Simkhai + Public School Makeup Spring 2018

It wouldn’t be proper Fashion Week beauty without some moody glam and glow. Maybelline artist Erin Parsons did just this at Jonathan Simkhai with a moody bronze eye created from the Maybelline The Nudes Palette. Public School also encompassed moody flare with a glossy topcoat over a dark shadow. Both looks kept the faces of the girls glowing with a molten highlight – yet natural with a matte finish.
