If there’s anyone who doesn’t want glowier, more radiant skin, we have yet to meet them. Thankfully there are so many ways to achieve it, from using luminizing products like highlighter and primer to using skin care with ingredients like vitamin C and alpha hydroxy acids (or AHAs). One of our favorite tricks, though, is to combine a few drops of serum with our foundation before application. It’s one that many makeup artists swear by and really takes your glow to the next level, plus it’ll make your foundation go on smoother.

There’s really no wrong way to try this trick; whatever hydrating serum and foundation you have on hand will probably work. And whether you apply the concoction with your hands, a brush or a sponge is totally up to you.

If you’re in the market for a recommendation, there is one serum and foundation duo that’s particularly amazing at providing a perfect lit-from-within look: the Lancôme Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Serum and the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H Long Wear Foundation.

The Génifique serum contains bifidus prebiotic, a potent anti-aging ingredient, to noticeably improve skin tone, texture, firmness, elasticity and radiance in just seven days. It has a silky yet lightweight texture that absorbs quickly, making it the perfect candidate for a foundation-booster. The Teint Idole foundation works well here because it’s a buildable, oil-free formula with a velvety texture that lends itself well to being mixed with serum. Here’s how we mix the two:

  • STEP 1

Apply your desired amount of Teint Idole foundation.

  • STEP 2

Add two to three drops of Génifique, depending on your desired level of glow.

  • STEP 3

Blend the formulas together with clean hands or a beauty sponge. For more coverage, follow up with a concealer where needed.
