NYFW tells a lot of stories — and every designer brings a new narrative to the ever-evolving spring, summer, fall and winter seasons. More than just about the clothes, these stories extend to the makeup and even the fingertips of the muses that walk down the runway. To celebrate those minute (but very vital) details, we’re highlighting the coolest nail looks that debuted this season.

Jeremy Scott

Essie artist Miss Pop created perhaps the most electric nail look of the season at Jeremy Scott’s show. Channeling the designer’s rave muse, she created a cool, techno animal print on his model’s nails. To get the look, start with a clear base coat and pick out your vibrant shades — Miss Pop used Essie Play Date, Bachelorette Bash and Tart Deco to achieve the look. Then, animal print away with the tip of the brush. “Try a half macaroni shape or a single dot of color to fill any empty space,” Miss Pop noted. How cool.

Alexander Wang

This season’s #WANGINC nail was all about the steel nude. Essie’s Rita Remark used a base color of Wild Nude and added Au Natural (that has a hint of metallic shine) overtop. “We used these two together because it reminded us of the strobing of the makeup,” Remark noted backstage. “And we wanted a polish that feels like velvet, that feels like steel — those descriptive words beyond what paint can kind of describe.

Tanya Taylor

Adding a major spin on your typical mani, Essie Artist Julie Kandalec created an “untraditional French” manicure that mirrored the vibrant, two-toned shoes shown in the collection. “We paired interesting and unexpected colors together,” Kandalec noted. The first nail look was a crisp combo of Essie No Place Like Chrome and Tart Deco — while the second was a cool mix of Bahama Mama and Chillato.

Oscar de la Renta

The perfect fall red is sometimes hard to find, but Kandalec made it a whole lot easier with her nail choice for the Oscar de la Renta Fall/Winter 2018 show. Inspired by the florals and Elizabethan prints in the collection, she chose the deep burgundy red Bordeaux for the manis — and some cool neutrals for the pedicure (Skinny Dip, Topless & Barefoot, Clothing Optional or Mink Muffs, depending on the model’s skin tone). This nail look was one of our favorites because it was classic and simple — with a nod to all things fall.Olivia Fall/Winter 2018 presentation, Remark yet again redefined cool with a glossy jet black manicure inspired by the collection’s rock‘n’roll demure. To get the look, simply apply two coats of Essie Licorice and the Speed Setter Top Coat for a glossy finish.

Alice + Olivia

For this year’s Alice + Olivia Fall/Winter 2018 presentation, Remark yet again redefined cool with a glossy jet black manicure inspired by the collection’s rock‘n’roll demure. To get the look, simply apply two coats of Essie Licorice and the Speed Setter Top Coat for a glossy finish.
