We’re Obsessing Over the Mod Manicures at KITH NYFW SS20 — Here’s How to Recreate Them

We love a good half moon or French tip nail-art detail for fall, but the shapes and lines we saw backstage at KITH’s SS20 New York Fashion Week show took our obsession to a whole new level and were probably the most innovative we’ve seen yet. Essie artist and Instagram nail-goddess Betina Goldstein was inspired by the collection’s nod to three specific locales: Paris, the Sahara desert and Aspen. As an ode to each individual place, she created three separate nail looks with a “modern and simple but futuristic” touch that channel everything from sandy dunes, to icy ski slopes and the Parisian skyline.

We broke down exactly how to get the nails, ahead:

Nail Look 1: The Icicle-Inspired Mani

STEP 1: Apply Essie Here To Stay Base Coat for a solid, smooth base

STEP 2: Add a layer of Mademoiselle for a sheer, light pink coat

STEP 3: Set the neutral-pink base shade with Matte About You

STEP 4: With a detail brush, draw a line down the center of each nail with No Place Like Chrome

STEP 5: Moisturize the nail beds for a silky finish with Apricot Cuticle Oil

Nail Look 2: The Double Corner French Mani

STEP 1: Start with a coat of Here To Stay Base Coat to prep for the look

STEP 2: Add a layer of Mademoiselle on top

STEP 3: Using a detail brush and Blanc, create two, curved tapered line along the top and bottom of the nail

STEP 4: Finish the nail look with a coat of Matte About You

STEP 5: Complete the look with a touch of Apricot Cuticle Oil on each cuticle

Nail Look 3: The Half (Sand) Dune Mani

STEP 1: Apply Here To Stay Base Coat to begin

STEP 2: Outline the half moon shape on the sides of the nail with a detail brush and Cliff Hanger

STEP 3: Use the brush to fill in the upper half of the nail, leaving the base of the nail blank for a negative space effect

STEP 4: Set the negative space with Matte About You and leave Cliff Hanger with its regular glossy finish

STEP 5: Finish by moisturizing with Apricot Cuticle Oil
