We don’t blame you if you want to dress like a cool cat or kitten this Halloween, especially after 2020’s Tiger King obsession. But because the focus will be on the eyes due to protective face mask mandates this year, you might feel limited in your ability to achieve a proper cat makeup look. Don’t worry — with the help of makeup artist and influencer Darien Isaac, we came up with the perfect leopard print-inspired eye look that’s so good, you won’t need to wear any makeup around the nose or mouth. Follow the step-by-step guide below to learn how to create it.

  • STEP 1:

    Prime the Eye

Start by prepping and priming the entire eyelid and crease with a concealer or eyeshadow primer of your choice to ensure a smooth shadow application and long wear. We love the Urban Decay Primer Potion Original.

  • STEP 2:

    Start Creating Your Spots

Create your leopard spots using the NYX Professional Makeup SFX Face and Body Paint Palette in Brights. Isaac used a small eye brush and the bright orange shade to paint three small dots onto the eye (one on the crease, one on the upper lash line and one on the outer crease). Don’t worry about making the dots perfectly symmetrical, in fact, they should all be a bit different!
