The faux freckles trend isn’t exactly new, but recently the look has transformed from 2D to 3D and we can’t get enough. Embellished freckles are typically created with  rhinestones, gems, and our favorite: pearls. To help us master the updated faux freckle look, we challenged makeup artist and influencer Mbali Christina to give us her take on the pearl freckle trend. Keep reading to learn how she created the colorful, pearl-adorned look.
  • STEP 1:

    Apply Your Shadow of Choice

To go bright and bold like Christina,  we recommend using Switch, an electric orange shade from the Urban Decay Wired Palette. Pack the color onto the lid and then smoke it out on and above the crease. With the shadow, draw a wing onto the outer corner for a more dramatic effect, and then bring the shade down to  the outer half of the lower lash line.

  • STEP 2:

    Apply a Clear Gloss

Pick up a clear gloss (we recommend the Maybelline New York Shine Shot) with a flat brush and tap it over the shadow, focusing on the lid and slightly above the crease (no need to bring it under the eye). Complete the look with mascara — we love the L’Oréal Paris Air Volume Mega Mascara — and falsies if you please.

  • STEP 3:

    Apply Your Pearl Freckles

Grab some pearl embellishments from your local craft store and the DUO Eyelash Adhesive. Apply a small dot of the glue on your cheek area and/or bridge of your nose (where freckles would usually appear) and place a pearl on top of it. Keep repeating these steps until your desired look is complete.
