The Ultimate Glitter Draping Tutorial, Featuring the NYX Glitter Goals Collection

Although we’ve been known to use any excuse our makeup minds can think to add glitter into our routine, a music festival is a pretty legit one. And after we learned that NYX Professional Makeup was the official beauty sponsor of  Coachella this year, we couldn’t wait to break out some of our Glitter Goals products and put them to use in celebration . Because we were feeling particularly extra, we asked NYC-based makeup artist Anne Kohlhagen to give us a tutorial on the glitter draping trend. Check it out, ahead.

STEP 1: Apply Your Cream Glitter

Using the NYX Professional Makeup Glitter Goals Cream Pro Palette, pick up the magenta glitter shade with your fingertip and pack it onto your lid, building the color outward toward your outer corner and temple. “This formula immediately dries on the skin, so there’s no need for primer,” says Kohlhagen.

Once you’ve built out the pink, follow up with the Champagne shade around your outer temple and blend into your hairline, creating a large, half moon or C-like shape. You want to layer the darkest color to the lightest, according to Kohlhagen, to create an ombré effect and give dimension to the look. The glitter cream step can be done entirely with your fingers as well — there is no need for brushes.

STEP 2: Set With Loose Glitter

To bump the look up a notch, Kohlhagen says to set the glitter cream with the NYX Professional Makeup Metallic Glitter in Beauty Beam. “Just tap it on right over the cream glitter,” she adds. “This will set the cream formula and add another layer of shine.” You can use a fluffy, dome-shaped brush for this — and make sure to keep it light-handed, so you don’t create any separation or space in the glitter particles.  

STEP 3: Apply Your Glitter Lip

“Going in with the darkest magenta color on a flat brush, apply the cream formula to your lips to finish off the look,” says Kohlhagen. Then add a touch of the Glitter Goals Liquid Lipstick in X-Finity overtop and at the center of the mouth for added sparkle. Set the whole look with the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray, and you’re ready to take on any festival with a whole lot more sparkle.
