Lipsticks this fall might have a higher litmus test than any past season. Beyond having the bold colors we love, fall 2020 lipsticks need to be transfer-proof because they need to stand up to constant face-mask wearing. To make our current lip color lives a little easier, L’Oréal Paris dropped ten new Colour Riche Lipstick shades and sent them over for us to try. See what six of our editors thought in the reviews below.

Shade: S’il Vous Plait

I was feeling sad about saying goodbye to summer, but the second I swiped on this rich berry shade, I felt instantly ready for fall. I applied it before eyeshadow, and the color is so statement-making, I didn’t even need it, though it will definitely pair nicely with a smoky eye the next time I’m feeling extra. The formula feels comfortable and nourishing, and I only had to reapply once (after lunch) throughout the day. For the under-$10 price, Colour Riche really can’t be beat.

Shade: Seine Sunset

If you know me, you know I live by brown lipsticks in the fall. Seine Sunset encapsulates the medium-brown look I love with a touch of pink that really enhances my natural lip color. The Colour Riche formula is creamy to the touch but extremely long lasting and leaves behind a soft sheen that looks like velvet on your lips. The best part about this fall lippie is that it’s totally transfer-proof, so I’m able to wear it under a mask without stressing. I know I’ll be reaching for this one on the daily.

Shade: Organza

During the fall and winter, my lips need all the moisture they can get. But clear lip balms are boring, which is why I love the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Lipsticks. They offer the same feel as a lip balm, thanks to its moisturizing formula with vitamin E and argan oil, but they offer beautiful pigmentation in a range of colors. The shade Organza is a gorgeous brown-nude color that has a hint of shimmer. Consider it the perfect neutral shade for fall.

Shade: Montmartre

Bold lipsticks kind of terrify me — I typically stick with nude and pink colors. Because I have lighter shades of the Colour Riche Lipsticks already, though, I decided to switch things up and venture to the darker side with the new shade range. I chose Montmartre, a deep berry pink. I was surprised by how much I loved the bolder color on my lips — it’s the perfect statement for fall. Plus the hydrating and nourishing formula keeps my lips soft and supple, even with the colder, windy weather.

Shade: Rouge St. Germain

A bold, signature red lippie is a must-have in any makeup bag. But finding a red color that complements my skin tone, doesn’t smudge or budge and makes me feel absolutely opulent hasn’t been easy — that is until I tried L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Lipstick in Rouge St. Germain. Applying this lipstick was super smooth, and I didn’t have to use several layers to get the rich color I expected. It also left my lips feeling so soft and moisturized, so the next time I feel like getting dressed up and extra glam for dinner date night — or just a cute movie night at home — I’ll be reaching for it.

Shade: Maison Marais

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m all about a bold lip, so I couldn’t resist going for Maison Marais because of how rich the cherry red pigment is. I’m a firm believer red can be worn year-round, so it was a relief to find a shade I can wear throughout the fall that I can truly see pairing well with my go-to makeup look of shimmery rose eyeshadow and a bold brow. The texture of this lip was also *so* moisturizing, and I was pleasantly surprised. It didn’t feel too slick or bleed as the day went on, which is always a risk when you’re going for anything other than a matte finish. It kept me hydrated, which is key for cold weather, and stayed put, all while giving me the statement look I can’t resist. Consider me a fan.
