Liquid blush is one of our favorite blush formats because of how effortlessly it melts into the skin. Whether you choose to tap it onto the apples of your cheeks with your fingers or a flat stippling brush, it instantly adds radiance, dew and the ultimate flush of color to your makeup.. Plus, it’s top-notch for drier skin types who might want to stay away from powder options.

Here, we’re sharing more on how to apply liquid blush (arguably one of the trendiest products of 2022), plus our favorite pigmented liquid blushes to try this season.

How to Apply Liquid Blush

Applying liquid blush is easy with the right tools. Simply squeeze out a tiny amount of the product onto the back of your hand and warm it up with your fingertips. It’s always better to apply less and build up the pigment than over-apply and have to start from scratch. You can either tap it onto your cheeks with your fourth finger, or opt to buff it in using a sponge or makeup brush. If you do the latter, you will want to pick up the product from the back of your hand or use a sanitized makeup mixing tray.

Where to Apply Liquid Blush

Apply your liquid blush on the apples of your cheeks and swipe it up toward your temple for a “lifted blush” look. This will create a warm, contoured effect. If you prefer a more natural look, focus it solely on your cheekbone area. Bonus: A little goes a long way, so no need for multiple layers or excess product.
