Headed back to school? If so, you’re probably experiencing a strange feeling that’s a combination of dread and excitement in one — dread, when you think of all of the studying and work in your future; excitement when you think about the fun stuff, like being with your friends all day, every day. Since there’s no way to avoid what’s to come (no matter how hard you try — we’ve been there), it’s time to get excited about the positives, like the opportunity to debut new makeup looks all year long or the perfect excuse to completely revamp your summer makeup bag. If you’re not sold, we've curated the below music playlist to get you pumped.

And if you’re looking for casual yet put-together makeup inspiration for the new school year, check out this 10-minute drugstore makeup tutorial from James Charles that’ll give you a few extra minutes to snooze through that alarm.

STEP 1: Prime your skin and apply your favorite drugstore foundation using a damp makeup sponge.

STEP 2: Conceal under-eye bags and blemishes with concealer. James uses Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and then uses a makeup sponge to blend into his skin. Pro Tip: For blemishes, James recommends using a light fluffy brush and lightly tapping on the area and blending out the edges “to keep the concealer exactly where you want it to be.”

STEP 3: Set your face with a setting powder of choice.

STEP 4: Using a contour palette like the NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette, lightly bronze and contour your face.

STEP 5: For a touch of color, apply blush. James uses the coral shade in the light e.l.f. Compact Powder Blush Palette.

STEP 6: Shape and fill your brows with your favorite eyebrow pencil.

STEP 7: Grab your liquid eyeliner apply a thin line along your lash line.

STEP 8: Curl your lashes with an eyelash curler and then apply a mascara like L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise.

STEP 9: Apply a long-lasting lippie like NYX Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream, which comes in a ton of different shades.

STEP 10: Finish with a setting spray to ensure that your makeup lasts all day.
