The New Year has a way of sneaking up on us. Maybe it’s because we spent the better half of this season preparing for the holidays with shopping for presents and decorating our home, so that before we know it, we need to to come up with an entire New Year’s Eve beauty look in a matter of hours. To help you look your most glam self when you ring in 2023, we rounded up a few of the best New Year’s Eve makeup ideas.

Glossy Smoky Eye + A Whole Lot of Highlighter

Let a glossy eye and highlighted look light up the room, be it IRL or virtually, on New Year’s Eve. Pair a smoky eyeshadow topped with an eye gloss with the brightest highlighter you own. To really add to that glowy radiance, try mixing two highlighters together. We like the Maybelline New York Facestudio Master Strobing Stick and the YSL Beauty Couture Highlighter.

Radiant Skin + A Red Lip

You can’t go wrong with a statement lip, especially on New Year’s Eve. Keep your skin looking fresh and flawless and your eye makeup natural to let your red lip pop. We’re loving the Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge Cream Lipstick in Caprice De Rouge.

Midnight Blue Shadow + A Nude Lip

If you really want to bring on the drama on New Year’s, try this midnight blue eyeshadow look. The bold, ultra-dark eye makeup pairs well with a nude lip, like the NYX Professional Makeup Shine Loud High Shine Lip Color in Global Citizen.

Purple Smoky Eyes + A Nude Lip

While it may be smoky eye season, it doesn’t mean you have to choose traditional black, brown and silver hues to complete your look. Try going with a vibrant, sparkly hue, like pinkish-purple, for an unexpected and fun twist. We love the Urban Decay 24/7 Moondust Eyeshadow in Glitter Rock for this. Finish the look with the Maybelline New York Master Precise Ink™ Metallic Liquid Liner in Cosmic Purple, a fluffy pair of falsies and a nude lip.

Nude Cut Crease Eye + A Peach Lip

We love this look because you can keep it minimal by doing a nude cut crease or you can take it up a notch by adding rhinestones, like @gabrielalsr did here. Whatever you choose, we highly recommend pairing the eyes with a peach lip to keep things fresh. If you’re looking for a drugstore palette that can help you create the look, try the Maybelline New York Eyestudio Nudes of New York Palette.

Golden Eyeshadow + A Glossy Lip

A matte brown shadow all over the lids and a touch of gold eyeshadow at the inner corners is an easy look that still feels glamorous enough for the occasion. You can pair the versatile eye look with a nude lip, like @jonetwmakeup, or you can go with a bolder hue.
