Old Hollywood glam reappears on the red carpet pretty regularly, and we think the look could use a more makeup-forward spin. Enter: Orange is the New Black actress Laverne Cox who did just that on the carpet last night.

“Ms. Cox asked the team to bring edge to this Emmy Awards red carpet. So when I conceptualized this look I wanted to give old school Hollywood an exciting, modern redo,” explainsIT Cosmetics makeup artist Deja Smith.

Smith prepped the skin with IT Cosmetics Secret Sauce and Anti-Aging Primer. Next, she applied the Je Ne Sais Quoi Lip Treatment and Superhero Eye Foundation.

To create the iconic smoky eye, Smith used the No-Tug Waterproof Anti-Aging Gel Eyeliner to define the inner and outer crease of the eyelid. Before the eyeliner dried, she used the Heavenly No-Tug Dual Eyeshadow Brush #5 to soften and diffuse the pencil – being mindful to leave negative space in the center of the crease. She finished the bold look by defining her upper lash line with Superhero Liner and coating her top and bottom lashes with Superhero Mascara.

This refreshing take on the silver screen look certainly gives the go-to Old Hollywood glam a run for its money.
