Gone are the days of the regular French manicure, thanks to Instagram nail artists everywhere who have been changing up the classic look. The latest update for the French tip is a patterned finish, including everything from marblized paint, to leopard, plaid and more. Ahead, we rounded up the best patterned French manicure looks to try this spring to change up your nail game in the most eye-catching way.

The Marble French

Up the ante of your French mani with a marbled finish, like this amethyst-inspired look by @nailartbyqueenie. She used a combination of solid purples and metallics to create the multi-dimensional finish.

The Leopard French

The leopard French mani is another must-try if you want to update your typical French tips. This look by @yeswhatnails combines a stunning bright red with black spots for an ultra-fiery animal-inspired look.

The Iridescent French

If painting on patterns isn’t so much your thing, opt for an easier way to spruce up your tips with an iridescent topcoat. This will not only give the illusion that your tips are patterned, but it will also catch the light everywhere you go.

The Plaid French

A plaid French mani is perhaps the coolest idea for a look that stands out and is easy to do. All you’ll need is a few different sized line brushes, two base colors (here, @nailartbyqueenie used a red and black), and a white, opaque polish.

The Trippy French

Who says that your French tips just have to have one color? This look by @nailhart1 proves otherwise, we’d say. The trippy combination is white and black on one hand and rainbow shades on the other, creating a cool, psychedelic finish.
